After realising I had stupidly left my passport at home when I got to the airport in Sydney, my wonderful husband Chris and my awesome dad met somewhere between Oakville and the airport and Chris got me my passport in time for me to check my bags and be on my way.
The United flight to LA wasn’t so bad, even if I was at the back of the plane. There wasn’t really any time for sitting around at the airport we basically picked up our bags (as you do in LA) then dumped them (literally, LAX is so strange) before rushing over to another terminal for our LAN flight to Lima, Peru. It’s safe to say we really weren’t that surprised that out of the 8 of us 5 of us were missing one bag each. Dealing with staff at Lima airport is interesting especially at 2am in the morning.
Our hotel in Lima for 3 hours was clean but not really 5 star. We were picked up early the next morning to be taken to the ship. Thankfully the ship then had an overnighter in Lima and the following morning our lost luggage had arrived.
For the next 12 days we sailed from Lima to Fort Lauderdale and we did handover during that time. In handover you can only use the show lounge when it’s free. This is often at 11.30pm at night. Handover was therefore very tiring and felt very long!
The old cast were still on during this time so we got to see them perform two shows, which was great. We had a formal night on one night which we all frocked up for. You can see how pretty we all looked in my pictures. The grey haired guy in our group shot is our cruise director. He is fantastic and reminds me of Dick van Dyke.
The picture of me in front of the ship is in Costa Rica in Limon. The pretty faces Josh and I are pulling in another photo is in Cristobel in Panama. This is after we have transited the Panama Canal and we stop for a few hours at a giant, what I’d call a shed full of markets a bar and some souvenir shops.
When we finally got to Fort Lauderdale we all got off the ship and headed for a good shopping mall to stock up on supplies for our journey ahead. I was tempted to buy the cheese balls (pictured) but refrained.
The first night of our World Cruise then began and for one night only we performed ‘Welcome Aboard’. I’ve put up a lovely photo of the boys in costume and then one of us girls.
