The Endless Journey to San Juan

We were supposed to leave Sydney at 10.50am on Friday, but our flight was delayed so we ended up flying out at 12.45pm. 14hrs to LA is a very long time!!! I didn’t sleep a wink. When we finally arrived in LA at 8.15am (Friday) the last thing I felt like doing was getting straight onto two 3 hrs flights to Dallas and then San Juan. As it turned out I didn’t have to as as result of our flight being delayed in Sydney we missed our next flight in LA. So, at 8.15am they tell us the next flight they could get us on was midnight! They put us up at the La Quinta (Spanish for Hotel and everything else apparently) for the day and despite the fact we are all exhausted we made the most of the unexpected day we acquired in LA. After lunch we headed to Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills. You may recognise the guy in the red suit from an episode of the Great Outdoors with Jennifer Hawkins. The others in that photo is Nathaniel (our Dance Captain), his girlfriend Tara (dancer), Brett (dancer), Dave (Singer) and Jill (dancer). After hours of shopping….not that I bought anything, except a 10 min massage (which was the highlight of my day)… we then headed back to the hotel for 3 hours sleep before dinner and our midnight flight.

Our flight to San Juan was direct and took 6 hrs & 45 mins. America Airlines have the most uncomfortable seats in the world…. Okay that maybe a slight a exaggeration…. But again I did not sleep a wink! By the time we arrived in San Juan I had only had 3 hours sleep in 45 hours!! I slept like a baby that night.

The ship is quite beautiful in it’s own way. I still haven’t explored it properly. Sleep has been the top of my list of priorities. I took a sea sick tablet before we sailed out on Saturday night and it really made me drowsy. I’m all good now and have not been sea sick at all… THANK GOD!!!!

Sunday was a sea day so we only got to have our costume fittings for ‘County Roads’ that day. We have some adorable Italian seamstresses on board altering our costumes. ‘Country Roads’ is the first show we will perform on board which will be this Friday night. Last night we watched the old cast perform ‘Curtin Up’ and tomorrow night will watch them perform ‘Shake Rattle & Roll’.

Today (Monday) we were in Aruba. At the moment port days are full on rehearsal days for us, as the International Show Lounge where we will be performing is free those days while the punters go ashore. We went hard from 9am to 7.30pm today. I’m beginning to really look forward to performing. It will be good once we are over the handing over period and settled into a routine… it’s then the real fun begins as we only have to worry about performing and are free to explore our ports of call and enjoy our free time.

I’m missing everyone at home. Most of all Chris & Megsie. Yes, there were lots of tears at the airport. 9 and a half weeks til he’s onboard though… I can’t wait!!!!

Will write again soon.

My Family!

This is Megsie and Chris. Aren't they gorgeous!

I'm going to miss my darlings
so much!!!

On The Countdown

In one weeks time I'll be just about ready to board a plane for San Juan, Peurto Rico. We have now learnt 5 shows and will spend the beginning of next week reviewing them before we set off to meet the Regal on Saturday, 28th.

I'm dreading saying goodbye like you wouldn't believe and have already started having teary moments at home. It will all be good though. We'll survive and have a great time when Chris comes onboard in Jan/Feb.

This weekend we're having a BBQ to catch up with everyone before I go, so I'm really looking forward to that. Today, I hope to start packing, that's going to be hard. Last time I did this I didn't have to fly, so I didn't have to worry about weight restrictions.

Will write again soon. I may do one more update before I go if I have time. If not I will as soon as I can once I'm there. Lot's of love xx

Am looking forward to this life again soon!

This was taken on a day trip on a boat in Moorea, an island in Tahiti on my last contract.

Two show's down, three more to go!

I'm now into my third week of rehearsals. So far we have learnt Country Roads and Pianoman. It's a much different learning process this time to the last time I spent 6 weeks learning 5 shows. This time we are being taught by Princess as opposed to being taught by Grayboy. Too complicated to explain why and for most of you reading this.. who cares anyway!

Pianoman was a big show to learn but I believe Curtin up the one we are learning this week is much easier and shorter. In fact it's had the whole Grease section cut out of it. Apparently the guy who wrote Grease is suing the cruise ships for royalties or something like that which means it's had to be taken off all the ships.

That's all from me for now. Just want to give a quick update!

Just one more thing.... I'M LOVING NOT SITTING BEHIND A COMPUTER 8 HOURS A DAY!
